Online Antenatal &
Birth Preparation Course
We have a secret in our culture, and it’s not that birth is painful.
It’s that women are strong.”
~ Laura Stavoe Harm
Baby’s expected birth date ‘hangs’ mysteriously
at some point in the future. Doesn’t it?
This is the moment when everything changes.
You become a Mama.
And you get to see, hold, touch and feel this beautiful little being that you’ve been ‘growing’ over the last 9 months or so!
This is the time you’ve been waiting for.
And yet, sadly, this is a time that many women fear.
Even dread.
Made worse by the huge number of internal “what if” sort of thoughts . . .
those ones that usually arise in the middle of the night!
All the uncertainty.
All the ‘not knowing’
All the ‘not having experienced this’ before.
All creates, and adds to, the anxiety along with the sleepless nights!
And these thoughts come from a part of our brain - the sole purpose, of which, is to keep us safe.
But to be able to do this . . . it needs to know the facts.
All of which is a bit tricky when you have no prior experience . . .as this is your first baby!
With all that said, just for a moment, let’s put this in context.
Because, deep within the very fabric of you, in fact within your DNA, is an innate sense of intuition and wisdom.
Which is something we’ve forgotten.
So, just for a moment, cast your mind way back in time.
Back through your family history - and then back further . . . through your ancestral history.
Well, how about we go back all the way to the time that we, as humans, first walked the earth.
And here you would find women . . . giving birth.
And what these women lacked in knowledge, education and medical support, they more than made up for by diving deeply into the innate wisdom held by their bodies and trusting that, when their time came, they would know exactly what to do.
Obviously, we live in very different times now - but with all the advancements in healthcare that is our good fortune to receive - we also have Google and the many social media platforms that bombard you with:
Advice - Not always factual
Opinions - Not always wanted
Comparisons - Definitely unhelpful
Zillions of bits of information
(or, perhaps we might say, misinformation)
literally flooding your awareness 24/7!
So, how can you best prepare for, what will be,
probably the most important day of your life . . . and certainly that of your little one!
So that you feel as ready as is possible.
That you have all the knowledge you require.
To fully understand.
That you know what you want and feel confident enough to ask your caregivers for it.
Well . . . I’d recommend finding a teacher.
Someone you feel comfortable with.
Who’ll give you what you’re looking for.
Who ‘knows their stuff’ and shares it in a way that works for you.
There are many out there.
And I’m here . . . if you think I might provide what you’re looking for!
I know how important it is to be fully prepared for birth and, back in my Community Midwifery days
I absolutely loved doing the antenatal and birth prep classes.
And this has been something I’ve continued to offer, since then, as part of my individual coaching sessions.
Bur I realise, not everyone has the time, funds or ‘pull’ to be coached and so I am in the process of creating an online, work at your own pace, easy to follow Birthing Preparation Course.
And here’s what’s included :
Signs that birthing might be starting. And what to do about it (!)
Physiology of birth and the stages of labour - the incredibleness of how your body ‘births’
(prepare to be amazed!).Creating the right environment - wherever you choose to give birth and how your supporters can best, well, ‘support’ you.
